The BRASH 10: Richest Athletes
I love these kinds of rankings because as obvious as some of the choices invariably are who land on the list (yes, you, Tiger), some on the roster are worthy of plenty of head scratching. This is the fifth year in a row that Sports Illustrated set out to compile the list of wealthiest athletes and for a fifth year in a row Tiger Woods is far and away atop the list. It's not even close, folks. The criteria the magazine uses combines one year's earnings or salary coupled with the athlete's income from commercial endorsements coming up with a total in the millions. It begins—as it always does—with a man named Tiger. —Richard Pérez-Feria
Tiger Woods (Pro Golf)
Still in his early thirties, Tiger Woods made nearly $23 million on the golf course and brought in a whopping $105 million in endorsements giving him a total of $127,902,706 and the No. 1 ranking for the fifth straight year as richest athlete. He should become the first billion-dollar athlete in the next couple of years.
